At Ethical Me we have three core values that run through every aspect of what we do, these are:
Our ethical values can be seen across every aspect of our company, from the quality of the products that we use to the sustainability of our packaging. We only use ingredients that are from renewable resources, this means that we never use paraffin wax or petroleum-based products or laminate our boxes with plastic. The products and packaging that we use can be recycled, composted or will biodegrade. We like to work with small businesses from around the UK who specialise in making high quality, handmade products.
The creation of almost every product has some level of impact on the environment, our aim is to keep this harm to a minimum. True sustainability means that the resources can be reproduced at/or above the level consumed. Sustainability also encompasses the three r’s of reusable, renewable and recyclable.
Re-usable
Products such as our lovely fine bone china candle pots can be reused in a number of ways. Repurpose them as plant pots, toothbrush holders, a pot for keeping keys or spare change or pencil pots for your desk. Try them with a tealight to bring a warm hygge glow to your evenings.
Renewable Products
We only use ingredients that are renewable, for example our soy wax and diffuser base are both made from sustainably sourced soy. We never use paraffin candle wax, now sometimes called mineral wax, as this is a by-product of the oil industry. Oil is not classed as sustainable as it cannot reproduced, well at least not for a few million years!
Recyclable (biodegradable and compostable)
Recyclable means that waste items that would normally end up in landfill are collected and processed into new products. We are also using the term recyclable to cover items that will biodegrade in landfill or compostable when collected in curb side, green waste.
Safety is also very important to us, that is why all of our products have the appropriate legal testing and certification and come with the appropriate, legally required, Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) information. To understand more about CLP labelling, please click this link:

Candles also must undergo rigorous testing to ensure that thy do not create a fire hazard in your home. The testing process takes many weeks to ensure that the wax, perfume, wick and container are a safe combination. We only release new fragrances or ranges once this process is completed.
